Labradorite Butterfly Necklace

Necklace by Sara Lalik Rhoads

"I have always been fascinated with the intricacy of the wings of flying critters such as butterflies and dragonflies. The relationships between space and line, and the variations that are created within the natural world. I try to recreate those relationships, as well as their graceful movement, within my own interpretation. I hand fabricate my work using a combination of forged wire, metal, and beautiful stones.

The main stone on the pendant, set in a hand created bezel, is a beautiful pink labradorite that almost glows when caught in the light. Reminiscent of a butterflies' luminescence. Completing this piece is my hand-crafted moon charm signifying "Me and the Moon". Long ago, while attending college, I mainly did my work late into night while my daughter and everyone else was asleep....while it was just me.....and the moon!

This particular piece has over 20 individual solder joints alone on the main pendant.  This piece can be worn with the adjustable double strand labradorite necklace....or can be removed to be worn on a necklace of your choice. The labradorite strands are hand-strung on wax coated polyester and knotted every three stones for durability.
