Subsequent Songs - Art by Peggy Kehoe

Whitman Works Company presents a new exhibition by Peggy Kehoe titled, "Subsequent Songs", on display from May 5th through June 3rd. The artist will be present for an opening reception on May 5th, from 6 to 9 pm. Ms. Kehoe, a nationally recognized artist, explores subjects that detail heightened human connection through an unknowable subtext of calligraphic brush marks. Kehoe creates her paintings from historical and figurative references within a meditation about cultural inheritance and its potent yet fragile connection to the present.

About the Artist:

Characterized by contrast, Peggy Kehoe's artwork is both intuitive and purposeful. In her paintings, tangible subjects fade in and out of colorful fields of calligraphic brush marks. The energetic surfaces of Kehoe's compositions are at once vague and specific. Born and raised in Kansas, Kehoe lived in Florida and Washington before moving to New York State in 1981. She and her husband currently reside near Honeoye Falls, NY. After completing her career teaching art and art history in the Pittsford School District, she recently returned to her studio to paint full-time. Kehoe's interests in exploring the natural world, studying art history, and observing human nature contribute to the themes she develops in her paintings.
